WHAT WE DO

Founded in 2022 on the belief that community and clay combine to foster wellness and resilience, the Humboldt Veterans Clay Group offers a therapuetic and social community for veterans to learn, experience, share, and practice together.

We provide free access to community ceramic classes and events with our veterans' unique needs in mind, structured to help participants experience the healing possibilities of arts practices, develop deeper interpersonal relationships with their cohorts, and engage and connect with their broader community. Participation in community-based arts helps develop a sense of belonging and increases wellbeing for those otherwise disconnected from social networks and decreases the risk of mental health problems, social isolation, and depression.

Humboldt County is home to nearly eight thousand US veterans, whom are historically both underserved and at a high risk for trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and social isolation. Yet, there are few options in Humboldt County for therapeutic modalities aimed at healing through aesthetic practices, and currently no other established ongoing community-based creative wellness programs for veterans.

We are proud to help Humboldt fill this void!
